How CPD works in Victoria

Ten units a year, 1 April to 31 March, with at least one unit in each of: ethics and professional responsibility; practice management and business skills; professional skills; and substantive law.

There is no accredited-provider scheme in Victoria. The rule is that an activity be conducted by a person suitably qualified with practical or academic experience in the subject — not necessarily a lawyer. You self-assess and self-certify.

Recorded material is capped: private study of audio/visual material is worth at most 5 units a year, which is why our sessions are live and interactive.

Why we run these

We're not a training company.
ORLA runs the front office for Victorian law firms — phones, bookings, intake, trust-compliant billing. These sessions are the parts of that work other lawyers keep asking us about.
Free, and there's a reason.
Some of the people in the room will want their reception and intake handled. That's the whole business model, and we'd rather say so than pretend.
Substantive law is taught by a lawyer.
Sessions on ethics and substantive law are presented by an Australian legal practitioner. Practice management is presented by the people who operate it.
No claims we can't make.
We are not accredited, because no such accreditation exists in Victoria. Our record states what you attended — nothing more.
